Day 33
The Prayer of Unity and Glory
Read John 17:1-26
Summary
Jesus prayed to the Father, asking God to glorify Him so that He may also glorify the Father in return (vv. 1–5).
He prayed for His disciples, asking the Father to protect and sanctify them as they remained in the world (vv. 6–19).
Jesus also prayed for future believers that they would be united as one people. Their unity would testify to the world that Jesus was indeed the One sent by God (vv. 20–26).
Reflect
Let’s meditate on vv. 20-23
1. What did Jesus pray for us, His future disciples? What was the biggest concern that Jesus had for His Church? Why was this important to Him?
2. Look at your relationships in your home, cell and church. Is there any place where you have struggled to maintain unity with others? How can you work on resolving your differences and restoring your relationships? Ask the Lord for wisdom and opportunity to foster unity in His Body.

Jesus emphasises that eternal life begins with knowing God and Christ experientially. Eternal life starts now on the day we give our life to Christ. It is not an intellectual understanding of God but an experiential walk with Jesus on a daily basis.
Reflect
3. Have you been walking with Jesus and experiencing His goodness daily? What do you need to do or stop doing to cultivate this intimacy?
Closing Prayer
Pray for a deeper experiential knowledge of God and Jesus Christ, and for strength to live a life of holiness. Pray for God to unite your family, cell and church with His love and grace so that you may reflect Him to the world.

Eternal Life
Jesus offers people access to eternal life or “life unto the age.” What does that mean?
