Who is Jesus?
You have probably heard of Jesus Christ from a friend or on the internet. But who exactly is He?
2000 years ago, Jesus was born in the town of Nazareth in what is now called Israel. He travelled about the region and gained a large following. After a few years, the religious leaders in Jerusalem falsely accused him of crimes and handed him over to the Roman authorities. They executed him by nailing him to a cross. A short time later, his followers preached in the name of Jesus Christ, whom they said rose from the dead. More and more followers were added to this movement which has become the Christian church of today.
This is what we commonly know about Jesus, but there is so much more to Him than that. Where He came from, what He did on earth, what He can do for us now are all revealed in the Bible. This book contains the only record of Jesus and was written by the generation of people who heard him teach and saw his deeds. While we are unable to summarise it all in a short paragraph on this page, we’d love to share a little more about what Jesus has done for us.
What has Jesus done for us?
The video below explains the miraculous work that Jesus has done for us and the gift He now presents us with.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.
Romans 3:23-26 NLT
How is Jesus relevant to us today?
Jesus has come to give us life and life to the fullest. Have a listen to the following story about a family of 8 sons and how Jesus changed their lives after they decided to place their trust in Him and follow Him.
How can I receive Jesus into my life?
Responding to Jesus is simple. We simply need to tell Him that we trust Him and accept His gift of love and forgiveness. And we can be assured that Jesus listens!
You can use these words as a simple prayer to Jesus, and ask Him to be your Saviour and Lord today.
