Day 5
You Must Be Born Again!
Read John 3:1-21
Summary
In this passage, Nicodemus, a Pharisee, approached Jesus at night to understand His teachings. Jesus told him that in order to see the kingdom of God, one must be born again, that is, to be born of the Spirit.
Nicodemus struggled to grasp this spiritual concept as he came from a world of strict adherence to religious rituals and works.
Jesus emphasised God's love, offering eternal life to all who would simply believe in Him. He also highlighted the severe consequences of unbelief for those who rejected Him.
This passage culminates in the powerful truth of John 3:16, showcasing God's immeasurable love for the world as He offers the free gift of salvation through the sacrifice of His Son.
Reflect
1. Like Nicodemus, do you trip over this idea that salvation is only attainable by believing in Christ alone? And that it cannot be earned through our human efforts? (Ephesians 2:8-9)
2. How will you respond to God as He reveals His deep love for you by giving you His one and only Son? (John 3:16)
3. Will you also share this love with your pre-believing friends and loved ones? Think of concrete ways to share this Gospel with others in the coming days.

Closing Prayer
Spend time thanking God for this free gift of salvation that you have received through His divine grace alone. Surrender areas of spiritual doubt or misunderstanding to Him, trusting His Spirit to guide you as you search the Scriptures.
