Daily Devotional Guide

For the next 40 days, we’ll be taking a journey through the Gospel of John. Some of us may have wondered what it would have been like to spend time with Jesus while He was on earth. John’s first-hand account of what he had seen and heard provides a glimpse of what it was like to be with Jesus. He takes us on a personal journey of discovering who Jesus is and how He reveals the very nature and character of God.

Throughout the Gospel, Jesus makes various claims about Himself – desiring that His hearers respond to them. How we respond to Jesus will determine the course of our life, our destiny, and ultimately, our eternal reward. Will we follow Him, as our Master and Lord, to the end?

Here is a simple guide on how you can prepare and posture yourself as you use the devotional.

1. Prepare your heart to meet Jesus.

  • Read the scripture passage a couple of times and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you. Respond to Him as He speaks through the passage.

  • Some of the passages may be relatively long. So, just focus and meditate on the section that speaks loudly to you after you have read the whole passage once.

2. Use the guided reflection questions as you meditate.

3. Respond to Jesus as He teaches you from His Word.

  • Commit yourself to Him and learn to commune with Christ throughout the day.

4. For those who desire to go deeper

  • Watch the daily devotional video from Digital Theologian Michael Hoff. It is very informative and edifying. After the video, you may reflect on an additional guided question.
